1. Set up your own project to get started on bimspot
Before starting, a distinction should be made depending on what stage your projects are at.
- Early-stage: if you are just getting started with a BIM project, the first step to accomplish on bimspot is to define your Information Requirements to clearly share the right information with your co-workers. We provide a template of Information Requirements that you and your team can easily customise to better fit your needs.
- Later stage: At this stage, the models are in progress. So, we suggest adapting the Information Requirements to your needs and subsequently uploading the models from the entire team.
2. Invite your team to get started on bimspot
On bimspot, you can easily share information with your team and evaluate the next steps. That’s why it is important to invite the concerned co-workers to upload their IFC models once the project is set up.
As a Project Manager, the uploaded models will provide you with all the needed information and enable you to make daily decisions driven by the latest data.
As an Architect, an Engineer, or a BIM Modeller, uploading the latest version of your model will provide you with contextualised feedback on the quality of your model and a big picture of how it fits in the context of the entire building.

By using this feature, you can easily replicate your project’s structure on bimspot.
For example, you can create a building and different building parts, which will represent individual IFC sub-models. It is categorised into three disciplines: ARC (Architect), STR (Structural Engineer) and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing).
If you are getting started with a project, you can easily create your desired structure. If you are in an ongoing project, you just need to rebuild the existing structure.
3. Check the quality of the models
The model’s quality will help you make better decisions based on the latest project data. Therefore, you must keep a close eye on the model quality; after all, this determines the basis of your decision.
The model quality is always based on three pillars: complete and correct information, phase-wise geometrical detailing and coordination of all sub-models.
